Uniform

School Uniform Policy

At Bildeston Primary School we love pupils to feel a part of the school community and uniform helps us to do this. From Reception to Year 6 we hope pupils will be proud to wear the Bildeston Primary School uniform, especially when they are out and about in the village or out on an educationally visit.

When representing the school for sport, pupils are privileged to wear our lovely Bildeston team wear which has been provided by the PTFA through their fundraising.

Uniform Support for Families

To help reduce clothing costs for families, we regularly collect and distribute good-quality second-hand school uniform items. These are kindly donated by families, especially when children leave the school, and are passed on to others where needed.

We now have a permanent uniform rail located in the school reception area, stocked with second-hand items that are free to take. Families are welcome to browse and help themselves at any time.

If you’d like to support this initiative, donations can be made by popping a contribution into the money tin provided near the uniform rail.

We’re grateful to everyone who donates uniform items or contributes financially—your generosity helps us support our school community in a practical and meaningful way.

We also provide uniform to those pupils on free school meals where they can make use of their '100 club' funds (click on link below for more details)

Meeting the 2026 DfE Uniform Requirements

We are pleased to confirm that our school already meets the upcoming Department for Education (DfE) statutory guidance on school uniform costs, which will become a legal requirement from September 2026. In line with the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, we only require one item of branded uniform, ensuring affordability and flexibility for families. This approach supports the DfE’s aim to reduce financial pressure on parents while maintaining a sense of school identity.

There are no minimum order quantities and your uniform will be delivered directly to your chosen address. As well as our approved decorated school uniform, you are also able to order plain items such as trousers, skirts and shirts.

Other ordering information including sizes, delivery information and the returns procedure is also available online.

We hope you will find using this new service an improvement in our school uniform supply.
