Assemblies

Assemblies are an important part of primary school life, providing regular opportunities for the whole school to come together, celebrate success and develop a strong sense of community.

Celebration assemblies recognise pupils’ personal achievements, including excellent writing, participation and success in sporting events, and the achievement of Dojo points, as well as rewarding children who consistently complete activities such as EdShed, Maths Shed and reading homework.

A Global and Local News Assembly gives pupils the opportunity to explore and discuss important events happening in the wider world and within their local community, alongside significant awareness days and special events.

At other points during the week, class teachers hold individual class assemblies, where children may watch Newsround and discuss news stories they have seen or heard about, helping them to develop curiosity and an understanding of the world around them.

Singing assemblies bring pupils together to enjoy music and learn songs linked to the music curriculum, building confidence and a shared enjoyment of singing.

Together, these assemblies provide valuable moments to draw the whole school community together, celebrate achievement, broaden pupils’ experiences and reinforce a positive sense of belonging.
